Heartening

Less than 12 hours remain to pick your favorite themes for our first crunch! We received over 500 usable themes. Because of this surprising volume, we curated a shortlist of 21 themes we found most interesting or just had too many duplicate submissions to ignore. (You can still see and pick from the rest by clicking the See All button.)

Next time, we’ll probably limit theme submissions to 3 per person and increase the duration of both the submission and voting phases.

Lastly, we finally published the final pre-crunch Primer, Sound Off! It’s short but sweet and features a new track (also short but sweet) from Matt called Genki (私は元気です、ありがとう).

I liked some of the themes from this time. Because you guys got such a great list, and (I suspect) you did a good job of shortening the list some, I like the idea of a holdover list of “best of” themes from the past rounds (maybe the top 4-10 after the winning theme) to be available in the next round of voting. Or at least for some of the holdovers from this round to continue into next round. Does that sound too finnicky?

For my part I’ll probably continue to submit “Stairs and Elevators” or maybe “Escalators, Stairs and Elevators” or “Snakes and Ladders” as one of my themes.

We discussed carrying over popular themes to the next game but decided against it since someone can just submit again if they really want to see it.

34 minutes to go!

Wow, I missed to see the 21 candidates and over 500 themes because Tokyo was midnight at that time. How can I see them now ?
